What is Breaking the Chain Foundation?

On January 19, 1999, under the leadership of Dr. H. Beecher Hicks, Jr., Senior Servant of Metropolitan Baptist Church, a group of concerned citizens assembled in Washington, D.C., to organize Metropolitan Community Development Corporation. Through its programs and activities, MCDC strives to build vibrant communities that prosper from affordable housing, quality education, health care, wealth building, and business ownership opportunities.

Cazzie Russell, head coach of the men’s basketball team at the Savannah College of Art and Design is known for a spectacular career at the University of Michigan (1963-1966.) His success there, coupled with that of the team, led to the construction of the Crisler Arena — later referred to as “The House that Cazzie Built.”
