1ST ANNUAL METROPOLITAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION CELEBRITY GOLF CLASSIC
The Inaugural Metropolitan Community Development Corporation Celebrity Golf Classic took place on Friday and Saturday, August 26 and 27, 2005 at Renditions Golf Course in Davidsonville, Maryland.
This event benefited Breaking the Chain Foundation and Metropolitan Community Development Corporation (MCDC). Breaking the Chain Foundation provides mentoring, referral and sponsorship services to District children with a parent or parents who are incarcerated (or under correctional supervision). It provides intense services to youth and connects families to a variety of referrals services throughout Washington, DC.
We had some incredible celebrity guests participating. Former NBA Hoopsters Cazzie Russell, Anthony "Spud" Webb, and Sedric Toney joined area golfers at Renditions for two days of golfing, contests, and most importantly, raising much needed funds for worthy causes. Friday culminated in an awards dinner, a raffle and a silent auction of donated items.
